Aurora Vest

Aurora means “dawn” – the start of a new day. The Aurora Vest was inspired by the changing of the seasons, what’s beyond the horizon and the desire to renew oneself. It is an incredibly versatile garment – being ideal for hot weather worn on its own; or for colder weather as an accessory to elevate an outfit. The stitch used, which is reminiscent of knitted fabric, creates a very light and airy fabric without being see-through. The straps at the sides make it highly adjustable, while the smart rounded ribbed neckline elevates it. The colorwork at the back is achieved using Intarsia Crochet and it’s a great opportunity to use mini skeins or leftover yarn from other projects. With its high-low rounded hem, this is a piece you will turn to time and time again. The pattern comes with detailed instructions, pictures, color charts for completing the colorwork section, and video tutorials to help you throughout.

GAUGE

22 sts x 18 rows of patt worked flat = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in.
Patt is worked over an odd number of sts: ch1 (doesn’t count as a st), cesc, ch1, sk1st, rep from to last st, cesc in last st, turn.
Watch this video tutorial for help understanding patt.
Be sure to block and check gauge before starting by making a big enough gauge swatch (at least 15 x 15 cm / 6 x 6 in).
Certain materials might sag and fabric will extend too much with drape, so adjust hook appropriately.

Alternative Yarn Options

Any fingering or light sport weight yarn will work, but here are some I recommend based on weight and composition:
